A certain 46, going on 60, year old shocked the nation on Saturday night when the small and rather chubby lonely cat lover from Wales stood on stage in Britain’s Got Talent.
The gold lace dress made her look like a piece of pork sitting on a doily and Ant and Dec were quick to jump on what seemed was a joke. Interviewed by the presenting brothers before she went on stage, she told them she was unemployed, single, living home alone with a cat and never been kissed. As Susan took to the stage, she was met by giggles, chatter and an unpleasant array of wolf whistles. Read the rest of this entry »

It is with deep sorrow that my blog entry for the week is about the death of a 93 year old man. Late last night whilst enjoying a hot coco in the comfort of my girlfriends home, it emerged the fire alarm of the neighboring house was bellowing. After a knock on the door with no answer, it became apparent something was amiss. After climbing over the rear wall, it was clear we had an emergency upon us as smoked quickly filled the pensioners house.
At 10:38pm last night, I made the call to the emergency services and three crews from Southsea Fire Station were called to the property.
Two firefighters in breathing apparatus entered the property and located the source of the fire in the kitchen. It is believed that the 93-year-old man died after the fire begun in a deep fat fryer in the kitchen. The body was removed from the property, and police are now carrying out an investigation.
My deepest condolences go out to the family.

It’s coming to an end of an era, the end of my University life is upon me and I am down to the last 10% of my studies. I never realised how hard the last 10% would be, the previous 90% has been a dribble compared to this! With no exams, I just have 8 deadlines of projects to meet over the next 8 weeks. From mini-essays, photography exhibition and of course, my dissertation: The Portsmouth Food Guide.
The likes on Twitter, Facebook and of course my blog are not helping my cause, I find myself searching for inspiration and creative ideas, but they usually take me straight back to the heroine that is social networking. According to the University of Minnesota, what students do outside of the classroom affects their life in more ways than one. The study found that social networking is not only causing negative affects on grades, but also a lack in sleep, exercise, increased consumption of alcohol and tobacco, along with marijuana use.
So, to all your online socialites out there, put down you quarter pounder with cheese and get out the house (put that macbook down!). Your mind, body and soul need a re-charge… and I need to graduate this spring.
Adios!

A fireman, a pilot, an actor, a vet or what about a Mid-weight Flash & Motion Graphics 3D Designer? I do not think any child would ever envisage such a career path whilst playing with their Tonka toys. We can spend our whole adolescence planning our career but in one swift swoop of maturity this can all change.

We now live in an age of super sized everything, an age where we are reevaluating the worth of systems and institutions – from the drive through bank to the relevance of the monarchical government. The 21st century has seen the rapid expansion of communications and telecommunications with mobile phones, the Internet and an overwhelming media focus on internationally popular culture. We have seen the rise of terrorism and the exponential growth of economic globalisation- that has taken us to the brink of a global recession. With UK markets in decline and the Confederation of British Industry predicting unemployment in the UK to hit three million by 2009, what chance do I have of making it in the real world come May, when after twenty-one years, my climb up the education comes to an abrupt end?
