Last Wednesday I was out for a dinner with a good friend in the idyllic town of Marlow. Not really know for its culinary excellence but if truth be told there are some fine establishments along the high street. Taking the current economic climate into account and being a Wednesday night we did not think to book a table. On our heads be it! All three of our preferred dinner destinations were fully booked, apart from Marlow Bar & Grill, but that would involve sitting in a line of couples.

So this leads me the question: Recession? What recession? Apple has just revealed that its ad budget for 2009 was half-a-billion dollars & The Daily Mail reported last week on the opening of a new John Lewis store with over a thousand eager shoppers queuing round the corner.

So this week, I am going to declare myself a fully fledged, shopaholic card carrying, credit crunch denier. Don’t get me wrong, we are clearly in an economic downturn of somewhat importance to the current news agenda, but the current turn of events would suggests the over eager Brits are still too eager to over spend!

On the contrary, it can be quite possible that I am totally and utterly wrong & this “financial crisis” is as real as everyone is making out. If this really is the case, it’s still a great time to buy a new car or even a new House. Apparently the money – assuming it doesn’t disappear altogether – will soon be good for nothing more than wallpapering the house, so you may as well convert it into something you can enjoy.
